Skip the Elevator and Take the Stairs on Jan. 8 for National Take the Stairs Day
American Lung Association recognizes the benefits of stair climbing for National Take the Stairs Day, and encourages New Jersey residents to step up for lung health by joining the Fight For Air Climb
People across the U.S. will be skipping the elevator and taking the stairs on National Take the Stairs Day on January 8 for clean air and healthy lungs. It’s an opportunity to promote a healthy activity and register for the American Lung Association’s Fight For Air Climb event at the Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, NJ.
In honor of National Take the Stairs Day, the Lung Association is encouraging everyone to take the stairs for lung health. Taking the stairs is a step toward healthier lungs and a healthier lifestyle, as doing so improves balance and coordination and helps to strengthen major muscle groups. People can then turn their stair‑climbing into a healthy habit by signing up at the Lung Association’s Fight For Air Climb New Jersey.
“There is no better time of the year to recommit to your health than now, and we’re here to help you make and keep those healthy New Year resolutions,” said Erica Masin, Executive Director of the Lung Association. “We invite all residents to take the next step and join us for our exciting and fun-filled Fight For Air Climb at the Sports Illustrated Stadium on Sunday, April 27, 2025.”
The Fight For Air Climb presents another chance to keep their resolutions on track as you tackle the stairs of the Sports Illustrated Stadium on April 27. Participants of the event will climb 780 stairs at the Sports Illustrated Stadium. Joining the Fight For Air Climb supports the work of the Lung Association to defeat lung cancer, champion clean air for all, improve the quality of life for those living with lung disease and their families, and create a tobacco-free future. Join hundreds of local residents, including teams of competing firefighters, come together for this fun and exciting event.
